We work in partnership with many other organisations and networks.

Here are some of our key partners.

Julie’s Bicycle

GMAST have worked with the fantastic team at JB from the very beginning.

Julie’s Bicycle is a pioneering not-for-profit mobilising the arts and culture to take action on the climate and ecological crisis. Founded by the music industry in 2007 and now working across the arts and culture, Julie’s Bicycle has partnered with over 2,000 organisations in the UK and internationally.

Combining cultural and environmental expertise, Julie’s Bicycle focuses on high-impact programmes and policy change to meet the climate crisis head-on. Their work includes research, tools, consultancy and training, bringing together networks that translate the climate crisis into practical actions and ideas.

Our freely available resources are the most comprehensive library of good environmental practice for culture anywhere, co-created with the thousands of artists and creative organisations we work with.

Manchester has committed to play its full part in tackling the global climate emergency. We have committed to urgent action to reduce our CO2 by at least 50% during 2020-2025, down to zero by 2038 at the very latest.

On the MCCA website, you can find out about our plan for becoming zero carbon, how we are doing, and how you can get involved.

The Manchester Climate Change Partnership are responsible for overseeing and championing climate change action in the city. GMAST represents culture on the Partnership.

We, a group of organisations in Manchester, with your help, are creating the city’s biggest community climate programme.

Tackling climate change is #InOurNature: your actions, ideas and stories will help everyone across the city find ways to eat healthier, improve the air we breathe, protect our green spaces, throw away less and power our homes in a way that’s fit for the future.

Green Growth

GMAST has enjoyed a long relationship with The Growth Company and it has helped the network and many organisations within it.

It is a great resource for practical advice and information about funding.

The Business Growth Hub supports businesses at all stages of their growth journey with our broad range of services. Our resource efficiency and green technologies and services teams help businesses reduce operating costs and thrive in the green technologies and services sector.

Carbon Literacy Project

GMAST work with the Carbon Literacy Project and developed our own culture sector specific version of the training.

The Carbon Literacy Project offers everyone a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy learning, covering – climate change, carbon footprints, how you can do your bit, and why it’s relevant to you and your audience.

The Carbon Literacy Project is globally unique – there is nothing else quite like it anywhere. It was recognised as such by the UN at COP21, in Paris, where it was awarded as a TAP100, one of 100 worldwide Transformative Action Programs.

Carbon Literacy (CL) is aimed at three distinct audiences – Those that live, Those that work, and, Those that study. This allows us to capture all audiences in our aim to offer every citizen Carbon Literacy learning.

A brilliant source of resource and information for the arts and culture sector.

We work with funders and policy makers to advocate for the role of the arts and culture in the transition to a more environmentally sustainable society and embed sustainable practices at a strategic level.

Many more cultural networks working on climate are emerging around the UK and beyond
